Mastering the Ego: Transforming Anger and Reactivity into Awareness
Transform Reactivity into Awareness for Inner Peace
As we start the new year, it’s vital to enter into a new state of consciousness if we really want the year ahead to be different.
We all have an ego (or mind identified state), and it’s a necessary part of living life here on Earth. The ego allows us to have our own unique experience with distinct desires, moods and so forth.

The negative ego (or negative aspect of the ego) is the unconscious and reactive part of you. It manifests in various ways, such as anger, whining, or some other mental-emotional state such as being nonverbal and moody suddenly.
Each person has their own unique form of reactiveness according to their ‘energy type’.
Anger is a common energy state that is highly destructive. Friendships and relationships often break down if anger runs unchecked. Anger often arises in interactions with people or situations – and, let’s face it, most difficult situations involve other people.
Anger is one of the most difficult emotions to deal with – it often feels like a match being struck, flaring up immediately and making it difficult to catch in the moment.
I think most of us have had at least one time when we’ve just “lost it”, as the saying goes.
What did we lose?
Awareness.
As your inner light of awareness grows, the time between an outburst of anger and the realisation that it has happened begins to naturally shorten. Initially, you may realise it several hours or even a day later. Over time, this window of perception can shrink to minutes or even seconds.
