Many people find shopping and travelling during the holidays (peak season) stressful for various reasons, not least because of the busyness, noise and even utter chaos that ensues when we get caught up in those particular environments.
Even if you like the hustle and bustle (and I suspect you’re young :)), you can end up feeling overwhelmed or exhausted.
There’s very good reason why most of us usually feel safe and relaxed at home, indoors, away from such places.
Check in with yourself
However, there’s nothing inherently stressful about shopping or travelling if we feel grounded in our bodies before we go out.
Take the time to check in with yourself.
How do you usually respond to these types of environment?
What are your triggers?
Who are your triggers? (Are you going to be with people who can ‘get your goat’?)
It’s often our programmed or default reactions to certain situations and people that’s stressful.
We’ve learned these reactions somewhere along the way… from parents, siblings, friends, authority figures like teachers and society at large… social media normalises reactive behaviours, for example.
